Our Story
The history of Copa Sul begins in the Madeira Island, in Portugal, in 1927.
The Abreu family came to Brazil in search of new opportunities and worked with bus lines, civil construction, car sales, until finally deciding to venture in the hotel industry.
In 1977, Rio de Janeiro was becoming a travel destination in Brazil and in the world, and the family decided to build a hotel in Copacabana. The success of the business allowed the brand to expand, with a new hotel in Macaé and another one here in Rio. This is how Copa Sul was born, in this same privileged location between Copacabana and Ipanema since 1984.
Since then, we went through many changes, but the only thing that stayed the same was our commitment in offering all our guests the best possible experience.
Our story pushes us to keep enhancing that which is our main tradition – a service of excellence.
